How to play Joker Teen Patti
In Joker Teen Patti nobody knows which cards are wild until the deal is done. The dealer then turns one card face up, and the other three cards of its rank become jokers for that hand. Everything else is classic Teen Patti, which makes this the gentlest of the wild card games to learn.
How the joker card works
Once every player has three cards, the dealer turns the next card of the deck face up and leaves it on the table. That card belongs to nobody. It only names the joker rank for the hand: the other three cards of the same rank, wherever they are, are wild.
Because the joker card is face up before anyone bets, blind players know the joker rank too. They just do not know whether they hold one. A new card is turned up every hand, so the jokers change all the time.
A joker plays exactly as in AK47. With one joker, a pair becomes a trail; two cards that can belong to a run become the best run they fit, pure if they share a suit; two cards of one suit become a colour with the joker as the highest card it can be; and anything else becomes a pair of your higher card. Two jokers always make a trail of your third card.

Who wins? Worked examples
In every example below the Eight of clubs was turned up, so the other three Eights are jokers.
- A♥K♥8♦Pure sequence, A-K-Q (1 joker)Q♠Q♦2♣Pair of Queens
First hand wins. The Eight plays as the Queen of hearts: A-K-Q of hearts, the best run, beats a pair.
- K♣5♣8♥Colour, Ace high (1 joker)J♠J♦9♣Pair of Jacks
First hand wins. Two clubs and a joker make a colour with the joker as the ace, and a colour beats a pair.
- 9♠10♦8♥Sequence, Jack high (1 joker)7♥7♣2♠Pair of Sevens
First hand wins. The joker plays as a Jack for J-10-9, a sequence, rather than the lower 10-9-8.
- Q♠4♦8♥Pair of Queens (1 joker)Q♥Q♣3♠Pair of Queens
First hand wins. Both are a pair of Queens. A joker pair follows the usual tiebreak, and the odd four beats the odd three.
- 8♠8♦3♣Trail of Threes (2 jokers)3♥3♠3♦Trail of Threes
Equal hands. Two jokers make three Threes, the same as the natural trail. The player who asked for the show loses.
Betting, show and side show in Joker
Nothing about the betting changes. Everyone posts the boot, blind players bet the stake and seen players twice the stake, and you can pack at any turn. A show is possible once two players are left, and a seen player can ask the previous seen player for a side show while three or more remain.
When hands are compared, jokers are played at their best, and a joker hand is worth the same as the natural hand it makes. On equal hands the player who asked for the show or side show loses.
Joker, AK47 and Hukam
All three are classic Teen Patti with wild cards, and the jokers work the same way in each. What differs is how many there are. Joker has three, so it plays closest to the classic game. AK47 has sixteen fixed jokers, and Hukam makes a whole suit wild, twelve jokers, chosen by the turned-up card.
Joker tips
- Look at the joker card before you decide whether to see your cards. If it is a rank you would love to hold, playing blind a little longer costs half as much.
- A single joker is a big edge here because jokers are rare. It turns any two cards into at least a pair, and often into a run or a colour.
- With only three jokers in play, natural hands still win most shows. A natural pair of Queens beats about three hands in four.
- Remember the turned-up card is out of play. If a King is turned up, only three Kings are left and all three are jokers.
Where versions differ
Apps vary: some make the turned card's whole suit wild, and Revolving Joker turns up a new joker whenever someone packs. Here one rank is wild for the whole hand. For a wild suit, play Hukam.
Joker questions
Is the turned-up card a joker?
No. It stays face up on the table and belongs to nobody. The other three cards of its rank are the jokers.
How is Joker different from AK47?
AK47 always has the same sixteen jokers. In Joker there are only three, and their rank changes every hand with the turned-up card.
What happens if I hold two jokers?
You have a trail of your third card, which beats every hand except a higher trail.
Do apps play Joker Teen Patti the same way?
Most turn up one card after the deal and make its rank wild, as we do. Some make its suit wild instead, which is our Hukam game, and Revolving Joker turns up a new joker whenever someone packs.
Can I play Joker Teen Patti free?
Yes, on the table at the top of this page. It plays Joker with play chips only, against four computer opponents. Nothing is bought or cashed out.
