How to play 4X Boot Teen Patti

4X Boot is classic Teen Patti with one change: the boot, the chips everyone puts in before the deal, is four times the usual size. The hands, the rankings and the betting rules are exactly those of a classic game, but every pot starts bigger and the stake climbs to its limit in a few raises, so each decision counts for more.

What changes in 4X Boot

Only the boot. In a classic game at our table everyone posts 50 play chips; in 4X Boot everyone posts 200. The boot is also the opening stake, so the first blind chaal is 200 and the first seen chaal 400.

Because the stake limit stays at 1,600, there is far less room to raise: the stake doubles from 200 to 400, 800 and then 1,600, where it stops. In a classic game it can double five times before it tops out. The pot limit stays at 12,800, which a 4X Boot pot reaches much sooner.

Teen Patti apps run 4X Boot as a table of its own for players who want bigger pots without learning new rules. The same idea works at home: agree a boot four times your usual one and play as normal.

Hand rankings

The rankings are the classic ones, with how often each hand is dealt.

  1. 1. TrailSet, three of a kind · 0.24% of handsA♠A♥A♦

Three cards of the same rank. Three aces are the best hand in the game.

  2. 2. Pure sequenceStraight flush · 0.22% of handsA♥K♥Q♥

Three cards in a row, all one suit. A-K-Q is highest, then A-2-3, then K-Q-J down to 4-3-2.

  3. 3. SequenceStraight, run · 3.26% of hands5♠4♦3♣

Three cards in a row in mixed suits, ranked the same way. K-A-2 is not a sequence.

  4. 4. ColourFlush · 4.96% of handsK♦9♦4♦

Three cards of one suit, not in a row. Compare the highest card, then the next, then the last.

  5. 5. PairTwo of a kind · 16.94% of handsQ♣Q♠7♥

Two cards of the same rank. The higher pair wins; with equal pairs the odd card decides.

  6. 6. High cardNo pair · 74.39% of handsA♥10♣6♠

Anything else. Compare the highest card, then the next, then the last.

Best first. Suits never break a tie.

Who wins? Worked examples

Each pair of hands below is compared by the classic rules, which 4X Boot keeps.

  1. 2♠2♥2♦Trail of Twos
    A♥K♥Q♥Pure sequence, A-K-Q

First hand wins. Any trail beats any run, even three Twos against A-K-Q in one suit.

  2. A♠2♦3♣Sequence, A-2-3
    K♠Q♦J♣Sequence, King high

First hand wins. A-2-3 is the second-highest run, below only A-K-Q, so it beats K-Q-J.

  3. K♦9♦4♦Colour, King high
    Q♣Q♠7♥Pair of Queens

First hand wins. Three cards of one suit make a colour, and a colour beats a pair.

  4. Q♣Q♠7♥Pair of Queens
    Q♥Q♦5♠Pair of Queens

First hand wins. Both are a pair of Queens, so the odd card decides: the Seven beats the Five.

  5. K♠Q♦9♣King high
    K♥Q♣9♦King high

Equal hands. The same ranks in different suits are equal hands. The player who asked for the show loses.

Betting, show and side show in 4X Boot

Nothing about the betting changes. Everyone posts the boot, blind players bet the stake and seen players twice the stake, and you can pack at any turn. A show is possible once two players are left, and a seen player can ask the previous seen player for a side show while three or more remain.

Only the amounts change. A blind chaal starts at 200 and a seen chaal at 400, a show costs the stake if you are blind or twice the stake if you are seen, and a side show twice the stake. After a single raise a seen chaal is already 800.

How the bigger boot changes play

A big boot puts more in the pot before anyone has bet, so the pot is worth fighting for. Packing early costs you the 200 you have already posted, four times as much as in a classic game, and a weak hand that wins the pot with a raise or two takes more home.

The other side is that the stake reaches its limit quickly. Once it is at the limit nobody can raise, so a strong hand can no longer build the pot by raising; it can only keep calling or ask for a show.

4X Boot tips

  • Count the pot before you pack. With five players the boots alone are 1,000, so one more blind chaal of 200 is often worth it.
  • Stay blind a little longer. A blind chaal costs half a seen one, and with bigger stakes the saving is bigger too.
  • Raise early with a strong hand. The stake tops out after three raises, so later in the hand there is no room left to build the pot.
  • Your play chips run down four times as fast. If you are low, switch to classic, where the boot is 50.

Where versions differ

A few rule sites describe a boot that grows four times every round. The apps that deal 4X Boot keep it simple, as this table does: one boot at the start of each hand, four times the usual size.

4X Boot questions

What does 4X Boot mean in Teen Patti?

The boot, the amount every player puts in before the deal, is four times the usual. Everything else is classic Teen Patti.

Are the hand rankings different in 4X Boot?

No. Trail, pure sequence, sequence, colour, pair and high card rank exactly as in a classic game.

Does the boot grow every round?

Not here. A few rule sites describe a boot that grows four times each round, but the apps that deal 4X Boot start each hand with one boot four times the normal size, and so does our table.

Why does the stake stop rising so soon?

The stake limit stays at 1,600 while the opening stake is 200, so three raises reach it.

Can I play 4X Boot free?

Yes, on the table at the top of this page. It plays 4X Boot with play chips only, against four computer opponents. There is no real money, nothing to buy and nothing to cash out.
